Most of the time, learning to speak the second language English is through writing.  Speaking and writing almost come together in learning the language.  If you notice, English Learners are writing their easy essay in way that they are speaking it too. How many times you have attended a review class?  Well, I have attended two review classes before I took a licensing examination. Now, I am a license degree holder. On these review classes I went through, the process of reviewing the students is the same on having simple quizzes.  The lecturer provides us a book where all the possible formats of questions on the real exam are there.  From the simple objective type, analogy, and the elimination process which I found one effective way of answering a test.

Upon finishing the mock test, the lecturer will provide additional information on how we did not get the correct answer.  After this, the lecturer will narrate the idea presented in the questionnaire.  The scenario then is just like having another classroom discussion because other members in the review room will be given time to share what they know about the topic.

This should not be the process of conducting a review.  This should not be ways to review before taking that major exam.  This is also the reason why the number of examinees who passed a certain major test is less than 50% of the total number of the examinees.  I am not trying to be pathetic here, but to fail on a major exam is devastating and I don’t want you to feel the ache I went through on my first attempt.  I thought I did my best but it wasn’t good enough.  That is frustrating.

When we say review, we should be exposing or letting to go out of our minds those things that had been accumulated during our studies in college.  Those accumulated knowledge are piled in there waiting to be explored again and the mere answering of a questionnaire is not sufficient enough to stimulate the mind to let those knowledge to come out.

Alright, try reviewing the other way around.  Let us make another process of reviewing those past lessons.  Let’s say for example the “General Psychology” subject; you don’t need to open the prototype questionnaire to look for those related questions.  Instead, get one whole sheet of paper and start writing things you know about General Psychology.  You may start writing names of individuals who became the reasons why “Psychology” is one important prerequisite subject on a degree.

Sigmund Freud, Jeans Piaget, and Eric Erickson are only few names to mention who promulgate the importance of Psychology in learning the human behavior.  Of course, you may want to write on a detailed manner the theories these persons proved their stand. All these things had been inculcated in our minds already.  You don’t need to study them again.  To review is to stimulate the mind to make those things come out and only through writing you will able to recall and express those piled knowledge.

If only those review classes are doing this type of process, I am positive the students could be able to pass what ever written examination they will undergo.  If this will be your second time to take that major test of your life, try to write all the things you know about the field.  You can still attend a review class, why not?  After all, you can do this self-review at home.  All you need to do is to practice your mind to recall all those accumulated knowledge during college days.

Online learning, the way I see it, it is for advance learners of the English language only.  This is because there are lots of example to be used here that the learner might not have the chance to grab what is being conveyed.

Especially when it come to writing, the learner should have have atleast enough knowledge in the basic grammar terms and structures particularly subject and verb agreement.  As mentioned in the previous articles, it easy to learn how to write simple English essay if the learner should start from this very basic sentences like the simple sentence in the present form.

The first simple sentence then should be rewritten to its progressive and past tense.  This will a good start on how to manipulate writing and rewriting simple sentences. Of course, these sentences should be again rewritten on the next tenses which are the future, emphatic form and other.

Of course, the learner should familiarize first what are the symbles that signals each sentnces why it becomes present, progressive, past and future tenses. You may think this is easy but t is not for those who are not familiar with the language.  These are also some of the roblems that will be encounter in the learning English online even if the learing process is on one on one basis.

I’ve seen a couple of websites offering learning English online.  I should have registered also as a teacher there, but when I started to browse the website, I’ve seen that there are more online teachers registered at that time compared to the number students online who are looking for a teacher to personally tutor them in a particular subject.

It may help a student to learn in way that student will have one on one tutoring via the webcam and chatting.  That the exchanges of questoin and answers will help the student to learn whatever subject he or she want to learn.

Writing English essays could also be learned in this type of learning environment.  But as an English teacher, before you will be able to learn writing a good or simle essay, the student should first learn how read properly ad comprehend what is being read.

Writing may seem simple, but if you are not familiar with the ingredients needed for a sentence to produce a comprehinsible idea,  you will not in any way construct a good article.  You should remember that writinghas a pre-requisite which reading.

So, before you could be able to write good essays, you need to practice reading and comprehending the texts you are reading.

There had been lots of theories on how to learn English as the Second Language and most them were successful, in the sense, that there were students who really learned the language.

Though it was proven that anything to be learned including English as the Second Language should be taught in the early age, in the long run, there are still other issues about the deficiency of the learner of the Second language.

In the non-English speaking countries, their culture is one of the obstacles that hampers the learner to learn the language to the fullest.  This is because of the thought that the learner might be responded in the negative view.

Some educators of the language termed this as ‘inferiority’ being felt by the learner when speaking the second language.  Though the reaction of in the community of a non0-native speaker will vary too, the impact will keep the learner to refrain from practicing via speaking the language.

For this reason, it is very important to give emphasis at the beginning of the lesson that speaking English will be a great practice for every ESL learners.  In addition, ESL teachers  especially non-native mentors to give imphasis on the speaking aspect of the learners.

It looks like just yesterday when my friends don’t have time to talk with each other to settle some of their feuds.  Both of them are working in an educational institution where my guy friend is teaching in the high school department and my lady friend is in the elementary department. 

Their feud started when my guy friend disagreed on the event that the elementary department student could not join the educational trip of the high department.  Field trip or educational trip is one of the educational activities of schools here to represent and for the student to see what exactly is being done in the real world with regards to what is being taught inside the classroom.

Since some of the itinerary (I’m not sure), as my high school teacher friend emphasized are not totally suited for the pupils and it is specifically for high school students only.  The debate at the meeting conducted by the Principal had made the fire between them grew even more.

Their feuds even manifested at the whole school and it was observed by the student both in high school and in the higher level of pupils in the elementary department.  The principal even called them to settle the problem, but it did not materialize.  The feud continued to another year, but had been minimized due to some convincing schemes discussed with them by some of their co-teachers friends.

High school and elementary students are vocal to the things that attract them.  As a teacher, you should display an extra-ordinary affection with your student so that they will become open to you and further learn their behaviors in which serve as a portal for you to base the lesson, especially if you’re handling values formation related subjects or lessons.

For this reason, the students tease both teachers stating “the more you hate, the more you love.”  Every time both teachers incidentally encounter at the corridor, the students were the first to display reactions which trigger both teachers to display civility, but the students keep on teasing them that they could be a perfect partner for both.  The student got the idea from the Greek Mythology about the love that had been developed between Hephaestus and Aphrodite.

One day, the lady teacher, an hour before class dismissal in the afternoon was visited by a guy.  Unknowingly for the guy teacher, but an obvious reaction had seen by some of the students and the teachers that the guy teacher displayed an obvious reaction that he was jealous while seeing the lady teacher having a fun chat with the other guy.  For this, the guy teacher received teasing remarks from his co-teacher in the department.

The following days, every one was struck, asking their selves what had happened.  They are now seeing both teachers having good conversations, smiling one another once in while and even eat together during lunch breaks.  The rest is history.

On May 24, 2008, Ian and Reign will get married.  My heartfelt congratulations for both you guys.

The English language is being used worldwide.  It now the number one language being learned all over the world.  In fact, even non native speakers started to hire native and non-native English teacher to teach in their country.  This is only one of the effects of business competition and globalization.
